TOKYO, Dec 22 (Reuters) - The dollar rose to its highest against the yen since late October on Tuesday, climbing in holiday-thinned trade as investors unwound short dollar positions heading into the year-end.

The dollar climbed to 91.45 yen JPY=, up 0.2 percent on the day, before coming back to 91.32 yen.
